Fatal Left-Turn Wreck Causes Rollover at Marsh Ln in Dallas, TX

Dallas, TX (June 13, 2026) – A person was killed, and another was injured following a two-vehicle collision that caused a van to overturn in the 3700 block of West Northwest Highway at Marsh Lane late Thursday evening, June 11.

TheDallas Police and Fire-Rescue personnel stated that a passenger sedan was traveling eastbound when the driver attempted to execute a left-hand turn through the intersection.

Authorities determined that the turn was made when it was unsafe to do so, causing the sedan to be struck by an oncoming van. The sheer force of the broadside impact caused the van to flip completely over onto its side.

Emergency medical crews immediately evaluated both drivers at the scene. The driver of the sedan, who was the vehicle's sole occupant, sustained catastrophic injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were subsequently pronounced dead.

The driver of the van was treated for non-life-threatening injuries resulting from the rollover.

The Dallas Police Department’s traffic division is leading the ongoing investigation.

Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the person who lost their life.

How is Fault Determined in a Left-Turn Intersection Accident in Dallas, Texas?

Fault in a Dallas, Texas, left-turn intersection accident is typically assigned to the turning driver because state traffic laws mandate that motorists making a left turn must yield the right-of-way to all oncoming vehicles.

Under the Texas Transportation Code, a driver attempting to turn across opposing lanes of travel must wait until the movement can be completed with reasonable safety.

If a motorist turns directly into the path of an oncoming vehicle and causes a collision, they are generally found negligent for failing to yield the right-of-way, making them or their estate legally responsible for any resulting injuries or property damage.

The legal strictness surrounding these maneuvers exists because intersection collisions caused by unsafe left turns are uniquely dangerous, frequently resulting in high-impact T-bone or rollover wrecks.

When an oncoming vehicle strikes a turning car or is forced into a sudden evasive maneuver, the extreme mechanical forces can easily cause larger vehicles, like vans or SUVs, to lose stability and overturn.

However, while the turning motorist is usually presumed at fault, determining liability can become highly complex under Texas's modified comparative negligence system if the oncoming vehicle was traveling at an excessive speed.

In these nuanced scenarios, investigators must carefully examine physical evidence, such as skid marks, vehicle black box data, and traffic camera footage, to determine if the oncoming driver's speed contributed to the collision.
