What Legal Options Do Families Have After a Fatal Multi-Person Crash in Duncanville, TX?

When a crash kills multiple people in Texas, eligible surviving family members, including spouses, children, and parents, may be able to pursue a wrongful death claim when a loved one is killed due to another party's negligence.

Texas law also allows the deceased's estate to file a survival action, which can run alongside a wrongful death claim to recover damages the victim experienced before death, including pain, suffering, and lost earnings.

The financial consequences of losing someone in a crash can be both immediate and far-reaching. Funeral and burial costs, medical expenses incurred before death, and the lasting loss of income, companionship, and guidance are among the damages that surviving family members may be able to pursue under Texas wrongful death law.

Because these losses span both the economic and personal, consulting an attorney as early as possible helps ensure that no critical deadlines are missed and that all available legal avenues are identified from the outset.

Building a strong claim often depends heavily on what the investigation uncovers. When a crash involves traffic investigators and reconstruction specialists, as this one does, their findings can become central to any civil wrongful death or personal injury claim that follows.

Evidence gathered at the scene, including vehicle positioning, speed analysis, and witness accounts,  can help establish how the crash occurred and which party may bear responsibility.

A wrongful death attorney may be able to help surviving families monitor the investigation as it progresses, preserve relevant evidence, and position each claim to pursue the full scope of available compensation once the circumstances of the crash are more clearly understood.
